Online book sales are driven by title information that is
provided to on-line retailed in ONIX format.
In 2005, Barnes & Noble added complete data and
covers to 19,222 titles online. Those titles’ sales increased by
60%. Yet 63.7% of all titles available lack this information.

A title information system that can meet
these requirement is a mandatory tool for is a requirement for many
publishers. Such a system collects information about a title, such
as pubdate, size, page count, short description, long description,
reviews, and excerpts in one centralized database. From here it can
be sent in ONIX format to a publishers retailers and wholesalers at
a push of a button.
Many book publishing software solutions; such as Acumen, BookMaster,
Klopotek, Pulbishing Technology and Virtusales, come with an integrated ONIX complaint title
information system.
Publishers operating without such a system may find the standalone
solutions presented below useful. We find the Onix Central
and OnixEdit solutions to be the most affordable while the

Anko ($240)
The Anko Title Manager is available as a
single user license for $240 (as of September 2005), and is an
affordable standalone ONIX solution for small publishers.
